About Us

With deep roots in Italian culture, the team behind Cucina Di Vincenzo believe that eating out is a celebration of people coming together. It’s family time, and it’s a time where memories are created.

From Italy – Edinburgh – Liverpool, we bring classic Italian cuisine to Childwall’s doorstep.

Where It All Began

Picinisco, Italy, late 1880’s.
Francesco Margiotta, Vince’s Nonno on his father’s side immigrated to Edinburgh in 1904, opening the River Almond café in Cramond that successfully ran for many years.
In 1906, Alfonso Crolla, Vince’s Nonno on his mother’s side also emigrated to Edinburgh and established a small ice-cream and confectionery business on Easter Road in the shadow of the famous Hibernian football Club.
After returning from war in 1918 he later partnered with Mr Valvona to open the legendary Valvona & Crolla, Scotland’s first importer of Italian produce, and a beloved establishment to this day. Image copywrite Valvona & Crolla used by permission. Now run by Alfonso's great grand-daughter Francesca Contini Mackie
Alfonso’s daughter Filomena and Francesco’s son Armando were married in Edinburgh and in 1960 had a son, Vince, the owner of Cucina Di Vincenzo.
Vince grew up heavily involved in the family businesses and went on to enjoy an illustrious career in the food and hospitality industry.
In 2016, Vince opened Cucina Di Vincenzo, a culmination of tradition, family and an overwhelming love and passion for honest Italian food and hospitality.
Two families, one love for Italian tradition, food and culture, and an ever-growing legacy continued by the Vincenzo family.

This Italian restaurant is truly wonderful. I don’t think I remember being quite so desperate to go back to the same place pretty much the next day. Service was excellent, our waiter, sadly don’t know his name, was not only attending and lovely, but was giving us some recommendations, which thankfully, I listened to! I would highly recommend this restaurant, believe me, you won’t be disappointed!
